Paver Steam Cleaning
The first step in our multi-step paver cleaning and restorations process is steam cleaning. We steam your pavers to remove any dirt, grime, mold, mildew, moss, algae, weeds, and debris. After steam cleaning, some pavers that have heavy organic stainings such as algae and lichen will receive a microbial treatment to ensure the cleanest pavers possible. If any remaining weeds are still rooted down in the pavers after surface cleaning, we remove those by hand ensuring the root system has been removed.
Paver Re-Sanding
The second step in our process is the re-sanding of the joints. Steam cleaning often removes some of the sand in between the joints so they need to be re-sanded. First, we spread general-purpose paver sand with brooms to fill the joints as much as possible. Once the sand has all been spread, we then blow the surface clean of any dust and debris from sanding. The last thing we do that most do not is a special wet sanding process that allows us to fill the paver joints to just below the paver chamfer to ensure the sand has been compacted down. When the sand is wet, it is heavy and more compact, which allows the joints to be filled all the way. If dry sand is spread with just broom and not compacted, oftentimes that sand will settle and you end up with gaps in the joints.
Paver Sealing
Paver sealing is the last and most important step in the process. Once the paver joints have been properly re-sanded and the surface has been cleared of all debris, an application of sealer is applied. Prestige Paver Restoration uses the best paver sealer in the business. Have you ever seen pavers with a white chalky residue? This is due to an inadequate acrylic-based sealer being used. These sealers have to be reapplied year after year which can cost you more money in the long run.
Prestige believes in protecting your investment with a quality product. Sealing your pavers is the best thing for them. Once the sealer is applied and cured, it transforms the sand between the joints to a consistency of concrete. This keeps your pavers from shifting, vegetation from growing, and sand from washing out prolonging the life of your hardscape. Sealing your pavers will also prevent mold, mildew, and any vegetation from growing between the pavers.
You can have your pavers sealed with a Natural Luster look giving them that factory-new look, as this sealer dries clear and gives them a “natural” look. You also have the option to give your pavers that “wet” look with our Super Wet sealer. This sealer gives the pavers a richer, bolder look by giving the appearance of looking wet. This sealer does not make the pavers slippery, although it may look that way. Both sealers do the same thing in hardening and locking the sand into place, the only difference is the aesthetics.
Quit letting weeds, moss, algae, dirt, and grime ruin the beauty of your hardscape. Letting your pavers go any longer could end up costing you more money in the long run.
